How to create Assignments

Assignments are how you connect your people and your content. Once you have added your users and content to Trivie you're ready to send out an Assignment!

How do I create an assignment?

When viewing the assignments table, click the Create button to go to the assignment creation form.

Each assignment creation form has 6 parts:

1. Mode

There are 2 modes you can create your Assignments in:

  • Learn: This allows users to take the quiz as many times as you allow within the timeframe in which the Assignment is available.
  • Assess: This allows users to complete the quiz 1 time only.

2. Settings

Assignments need a name so that you can keep track of which one is which. We recommend that you use something unique and describes who or what you are assigning to (e.g., "September 2019 New Hires Assignment").

Here you can mark it "Required" and limit the number of attempts a user has to take the Quiz.

3. Quizzes

Pick Quizzes to be included in your Assignment
Here you'll determine which Quizzes you want to be included in the Assignment. You can choose from ALL of your Quizzes using the drop-down, or browse by each Topic and select the Quizzes you'd like included.

We also provide a nifty quiz counter, so you know how many you've added to your assignment - sweet!

Ordering Quizzes
Want users to take the quizzes in a specific order? No problem! Turn ON the "Order quizzes" option here and drag and drop away.

4. Segments

Here you'll pick which Segments you want to receive access to the Assignment. Click on any and all Segments you'd like included and bring 'em' on over!

Need a refresher on Segments? Check out What are tags and segments?

5. Schedule

Here you can pick the start and finish dates for your Assignment. Users will receive access to the Assignment at the selected date and time and will not be able to access it after the finish date and time.

Pro Tips:

  • Start and End times are in 24-hour format! (5:00 PM = 17:00)
  • Toggle "Notify users?" if you would like users to receive an email and/or push notification at the start date of the assignment. Want to learn more about communicating with users? Check out How can I communicate with users?

6. Confirm & Publish

On this last step, you're simply asked to review everything to make sure it's correct before saving. If everything looks good, click the "Save Assignment" button and then sit back and relax (or go create another Assignment. Keep the learning training chugging!

Pro Tips:

  • Once your Assignment is live, you can only Extend or End the assignment. You cannot make any changes to the Segment or Content in that Assignment.
  • If your assignment is Scheduled for a future start date, you can make any changes to the Assignment until it's live!

How do I view assignments?

Click on the "Assign" button on the main left-side navigation, and you will be taken to the Assignments section. By default, it shows you the Active assignments, but there are three tabs across the top (Active, Scheduled, and Completed), and clicking on any of these tabs will filter the assignments by status.

  • Active Assignments are those whose start date has arrived and whose finish date has not yet arrived.
  • Scheduled Assignments are those with a start date in the future.
  • Completed Assignments are those with a finish date in the past
